BOAC, Marinduque -- Hundreds of Marinduque’s best dancers gathered for a spectacular street dancing exhibition over the weekend, showcasing the province’s rich culture and tradition.
The street dancing exhibition, which took place on April 10, 2023 featured eight groups of performers from the municipalities of Gasan and Sta. Cruz, each showcasing their unique style and interpretation to the theme, 'Kaunlaran at Pamumuhay sa Pagkabuhay ni Kristo'.
The event was a celebration of Marinduque’s cultural heritage and aimed to promote the province’s unique identity and history. From colorful costumes to intricate choreography, the performers displayed their mastery of the art of dance and captivated the audience with their energy and passion.
According to Marinduque Gov. Presbitero Velasco Jr., the event was an opportunity to showcase the province’s cultural identity and promote tourism in the region. “This is an event that highlights the beauty of Marinduque’s culture and tradition,” he said. “We hope that through events like this, we can encourage more people to come and experience the beauty of our province.”
The street dancing exhibition was a true testament to the resilience and creativity of Marinduqueño, who have always found ways to keep their traditions alive despite the challenges brought about by modernization and globalization.
